Our Advocacy Mission
The Global Deaf Muslim Federation (GDMF) is a non-profit organization focussed on supporting inclusion, accessibility, and collaboration within Deaf Muslim communities worldwide.
GDMF works to strengthen access to Islamic education, support Deaf-led initiatives, and connect organizations across countries. Through advocacy, partnerships, and community engagement, the Federation promotes greater participation of Deaf Muslims in religious, social,, educational and community life.
Global Policy Engagement
GDMF contributes to global conversations on inclusion and faith-based accessibility by engaging with partner organizations, community leaders, and international networks.
Our work focuses on:
- Expanding access to Islamic education in sign language
- Supporting Deaf leadership and community development
- Encouraging inclusive practices within Muslim institutions and spaces
Through these efforts, GDMF help s elevate the visibility and needs of Deaf Muslims within broader discussions on inclusion and accessibility.
Partnerships and Collaborations
Collaboration is central to GDMF’s approach. The Federation works with Deaf organizations, community groups, and institutional partners across regions to strengthen impact and share knowledge.
These collaborations support:
- Exchange of experiences and best practices
- Coordination of programs and initiatives supporting independent living opportunities
- Development of resources for Deaf communities
GDMF also works through trusted local partners to reach communities effectively in different countries.
Advocacy in Action – International Conferences
A key part of GDMF’s work is convening international gatherings that bring together Deaf Muslims and stakeholders from around the world.
Through its international conferences and workshops, GDMF:
- Creates space for dialogue on shared challenges
- Promotes collaboration across countries and regions
- Supports the development of sign language resources related to Islamic knowledge
